March Microadventure

So with all that’s been going on in my life recently getting out for a night under the stars has been the last thing on my mind, however last night I had the opportunity and decided to grab it!

I started grabbing the kit I thought i’d need around 8pm and got the bags lashed to my mountain bike and at around 10pm I set off. It took while to find a pitch as it was very waterlogged at the spot I earmarked.

The sky was clear all night and i had the view of thousands of stars, as a result it got very cold – close to zero I reckon (as I write this from home now there is still frost on the ground!)

Got home for 7am and treated myself to a bacon buttie.

Packed and ready to go
War memorial lit up on Victoria Embankment
Trent Bridge
The start of the rapids course at the National Water Sports Centre
My Bedroom for the night
Looking towards the Lake
View up – clear skies but a phone camera so you cant pick out the stars

Packed away – a chilly morning!

Bike: B’Twin Rafal 740

Bags: Alpkit Kanga Harness & 13l Xtra dry bag, 2 x Alpkit Stemcell bags, Alpkit Koala saddlebag.

Sleeping: Alpkit Hunka XL, Mountain Equipment Helium 250 sleeping bag and Themarest Neoair Xtherm mat.
